A Typical Pharmacy Technician's Day

A pharmacy technician is a valued employee with a wide range of skills that not only help assist the licensed pharmacist, but also help keep the pharmacy running smoothly.

The pharmacy technician more than likely will have customer service tasks. This could include: taking in prescription orders, signing out filled prescriptions, running a cash register, taking money, giving instructions or answering question, and ensuring patient information accuracy.

The pharmacy technician might perform administrative tasks, too. This could include ordering, lifting and unloading boxes as well as stocking shelves, labeling bottles, taking care of insurance paperwork, answering phones, maintaining patient records, patient billing and more.

In addition, the pharmacy technician might also be called upon to count pills or process prescriptions (ensure prescription validity and legitimacy).
