Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

The increasing demand for diagnostic ultrasound procedures affords those with the appropriate education greater employment opportunities in varied medical settings.*
The curriculum addresses fundamental topics in sonographic physics and instrumentations, abdominal, small parts, OB/GYN, gray scale and color-flow Doppler sonography. Most schools offer both day and evening programs and include a full-time, unpaid clinical externship.
The program's courses are designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs that may require them to
- Interact with patients
- Prepare patient histories
- Perform non-invasive procedures using ultrasound equipment
- Prepare ultrasound reports to assist physicians in forming a medical diagnosis
- Work with a team of professionals in sonography and other health-care areas
